Assitant Laboratory Manager
An International Organization with offices in most major towns in the
Country is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of
Assitant Laboratory Manager.
Location: Mombasa
Knowledge, Skills And Experience Required:
- At least a Bsc degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. MSc in Chemistry will be an added advantage.
- 5 years experience in a fast commercial testing laboratory handling various products.
- Lead Auditor/Assessor Training by a recognised body.
- Mastery in technical knowledge of analytical processes and ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously.
- Excellent knowledge of laboratory methods development and validation processes.
- Extensive knowledge of international standards and product specifications used in various industries.
- Good skills in commercial testing service with strong business drive and good customer relations.
- Excellent knowledge of laboratory methods development and validation.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.
- Thorough knowledge of ISO 17025 and hands on experience in management of an ISO 17025 accredited facility
- Ability to plan, provide and optimize laboratory resources in achieving corporate business objectives
Key Responsibilities:
- Deputize the Laboratory Manager.
- Co-ordinate and monitor day-to- day operations in all laboratories including scheduling and prioritization of work.
- Ensure that analysts perform work in a professional manner that meets the requirement of both internal and external clients.
- Monitor, document and report the analysis turn around time on a regular basis for continuous improvement.
- Review technical raw data before issuance of test reports.
- Respond to client enquiries and provides professional advice.
- Drive, develop and validate new laboratory testing methods for various products.
- Ensure personnel are trained for the duties they perform-including temporary staff when regular personnel are absent.
- Coordinate purchasing requests and ensure that adequate inventories of all laboratory consumables and reagents are maintained and requisitions made in good time.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and calibration activities and ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated, reporting all deficiencies (equipment malfunctions) in an appropriate manner.
- Ensure that all waste products and expired samples are disposed off in accordance with both local legal regulations and in a manner that protects the integrity of the laboratory.
- Liaise with the Laboratory Manager to ensure that clients are sufficiently informed of the progress of their orders and that they get their reports
