Introduction
The Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) is a national Non-Governmental Organization with the Mission of promoting, protecting and enhancing the enjoyment of all human rights by all individuals and groups.
To achieve this Mission, our firm belief is that it largely depends on the extent to which human rights practices are adequately rooted in communities.
Our approach therefore seeks to promote the culture of self-reliance amongst communities in order to enhance their independence and by extension their human dignity.
Conceptual Analysis
a) The KHRC is currently undergoing a strategic planning process intended to enable the Commission to adopt better to the fast-changing external environment and increase its long term health and performance.
The KHRC’s vision and mission statements as articulated in its emerging strategic plan are as follows:
i. Vision: A human rights state and society.
ii. Mission: To foster human rights, democratic values, human dignity and social justice.
iii. Goal: Enhanced people-driven and human rights centered governance at all levels.
b) The KHRC therefore seeks to ensure that its organizational culture is evolving in a manner consistent with its vision and mission and that guarantees that it successfully delivers on its mandate.
c) Towards this end the KHRC requires the services of an Organizational Development Specialist who will work with us to realize an internal work culture that not only ensures delivery but also consistency with the institution’s vision, mission and goal as well as their underpinning values.
